| Global Access 2006: Global Aspect Triad No.3 - Africa, Management Information Systems, and Global Sourcing.
This month, we shall examine the third of our ten ' Global Aspect Triads'; three ways of looking at the world of opportunity from an uniquely dealer perspective via our monthly selection of a geographical region, a product/service sector and a business management advisory.
1) Geographical region: Africa, this region is a recipient of products and services and produces very little for export to the distribution channel. A country to watch out for and to monitor however is, South Africa.
2) Product / service sector: Management Information Systems. starting as information gathering devices, MIS stands today as the 'heart beat' of a printing business. Connecting, controlling and directing both information and content throughout the printing system, both internally & externally. Most MIS manufacturers supply their own products direct to the market. However, as the current penetration of MIS systems are still very low as a percentage of available printers. Work flow (as in data) and market knowledge (as in years of experience of the local market) converge and there is a place for dealers to connect with MIS manufacturers, as they seek ways to enter the printing market.
3) Business Management Advisory: Global Sourcing. When developing a product or service strategy the primary focus must be on creating a strategic fit between the dealer and the manufacturer. Knowing where (which manufacturer) and what (which product) to look for is 50% of the sourcing equation, the other 50% us having a commercial synergy with the new trading partner. Our 100-point 'Global Access Program', is available online should any dealer wish to do a commercial preparedness check on their readiness for effective global sourcing.
